Founder and CEO

With a 25-year career in security, Dana Hersom is recognized as an industry leader in developing and pioneering new markets in IP-based security integration. He has worked with General Electric (GE Security) and HID Global, and is the founder of Digital Synthesus. As CEO of Digital Synthesis, he is credited with successfully leading the business launch and creation of unique web-based integration applications enabling new recurring revenue business models for video, access control and intrusion monitoring applications.

As Director of Systems Integration for GE Security, Dana was the creator and leader of developing “GE System Builder.” His product was awarded the prestigious Securing America Award for innovation and advancing the security industry in 2004 by Security Dealer Magazine. He was a selected member of the GE Security – Global Marketing and Technology Council (2003-05) and registered as a co-author of a significant GE Patent application submission for Container Security Devices (CSD) data storage and retrieval. Dana was also a key presenter to the U.S. GAO for “GE Integration Vision” of Homeland Security Technologies as a member of the GE Global Research Team.

Before joining GE, Dana was a President of Hersom Consulting Inc. for nearly a decade and built his company to 28 employees with offices in Atlanta, Ga., and Sao Paulo, Brazil. The company contracted as primary consultants to Fortune 500 and Fortune 50 companies on Electronic Integrated Security applications design specifications and installation.

In 1984, Dana successfully pioneered the first recurring revenue market for off-site monitored, building administration systems as Vice President of Ackerman Security Systems in Atlanta. His other business leadership positions include Director of Global Marketing for Artisan Software Tools and Director of Commercial Business Development and Product Marketing for SAVI Technologies – Raytheon.

Fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish, Dana has been the key guest speaker for the Brazilian Communications Association and the South American Security Consortium. He has also been recognized in publications including Georgia Trend, Business Atlanta Magazine, The Atlanta Business Chronicle, and the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. He has been a repeat guest on the syndicated U.S. radio show, The Wall Street Wizard.

In addition to his work with Synthesis, Dana serves on the Board of Directors of DemanWidth, LLC and Global Communications, Inc.

Dana and his wife Anne reside in Albany, Ore., with their three sons, Ian, Nathan and Benjamin.
